The Posavac Hound, also known as the Posavski Gonič, hails from the Sava Valley in Croatia. This medium-sized breed is celebrated for its exceptional hunting skills, keen sense of smell, and calm, friendly demeanor.
Posavac Hounds are highly adaptable, making them excellent companions both in the field and at home. They are known for their loyalty, intelligence, and gentle nature, traits that make them wonderful family pets.
Meet Milla
Milla is a charming mix of Posavac Hound, estimated to be about 7 to 8 years old.
She is a medium-sized dog, standing approximately 45 cm tall, 55 cm long, and weighing around 25 kg.
Milla’s key characteristics include being calm, submissive, and occasionally playful.
She loves her food and enjoys medium-length walks.
Milla is also great on a leash and adapts excellently to new environments.
She is spayed, vaccinated, and ready to travel to her forever home.
Milla’s Rescue Story
On March 25th, 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world was grappling with face masks, curfews, and social distancing measures that severely limited movement and interactions.
Amidst these challenging times, Milla’s life took a dramatic turn. She was hit by a car right in front of our apartment. Despite the curfew and without the obligatory face mask, I rushed out to save her.
I managed to pull her away seconds before another car could have caused further harm.
Milla was urgently taken to the vet, where she stayed for five days. She was observed for concussion and received stitches where needed.
Thankfully, Milla’s wounds healed, and she soon recovered.
Once released from the dog hospital, I couldn’t bring myself to put her back on the streets. Instead, I decided to place her in a dog boarding home.
Life in the Boarding Home
Milla has been a resident of the boarding home since her rescue in March 2020. She is a very sweet dog, around three years old at the time of her accident, playful and good-natured.
Milla has been waiting for her home offer for over four years now. Despite her long wait, she remains calm and submissive, with no social issues. She loves children, people, and other dogs.
Milla is fully vetted and healthy, ready to bring joy to a loving family.
A Name That Fits
We now know that we chose the right name for her. After two weeks in the boarding home, we learned that Milla is sweet, meek, soft, tender, and easily gets under your skin – just as her name means in Serbian (Mila).
Besides her endearing personality, she is also very clever, even digging a hole to poop into!
Finding Milla a Forever Home
People who have adopted from me know that I provide honest information about each dog. I don’t hide health issues or character flaws because I want the best fitting home for each of my dogs, and that can only be found with sincerity from both sides.

How to Adopt a Dog from a Rescue?
If you decide to adopt Milla or any other Nevena’s Rescue, please check out this blog 👉 the process of adoption from Nevena’s Rescues.
This is not prying into your life, this is just the measure to value if the dog is a good fit into your lifestyle and household.
These measures are just to make both sides satisfied. We don’t want anyone to suffer, neither a human nor a dog that already went through a horrible past.
However, by adopting a dog you save not one but two lives because this way you free up space for another dog to be rescued from the streets.
